Mangalore: Talent nourished and nurtured can turn any youngster into a genius. This is true for two of the young lads in Canara High School, Dongerkeri, Mangalore.
They have been classmates for a long time and have competed with each other, not just to see who is better, but to discover the potentials they never thought they had. They have been enjoying the journey of their curiosities, producing one splendid painting after another, winning one award after another.

Varun Holla with his father
The two boys are studying in ninth standard. One is Varun Holla and the other Vaibhav Shenoy. Their character and nature run quite contrast to each other. But there is a similarity lying deep within, in their exceptional skill of painting pictures in styles as complicated and arduous as pointillism. The paintings by them not only display their patience, a skill they have mastered at such a tender age, but also the potential for excellence that seeps from their innocent eyes.
They want to do as many things as possible. So, both of them found it wise to test their creative mastery in the famed Google Doodle competitions.
Here is a small overview of the achievements of both these incredible talents.
Let's start with Varun. He has qualified himself in the National Talent Search Examination with flying colors. He is a holder of several international, national and state-level painting competitions. Notable prizes include a second prize in TOYOTA Dream Car Art Contest, National Aeron ImQ Contest, Ministry of Power- Government of India prize for Energy Conservation Painting,  'Chiguru' merit prize from Chakrapani School of Arts etc.
In a brief bio-data of his received by us, over 80 prizes have been listed to his credit. For a boy who has been painting since LKG, awards and prizes are just perks that come with his incredible skill of painting.
Vaibhav is no different, apart from the fact that he is quite silent when compared to Varun. His paintings were highly commended by 'Look and Learn'- London, an international painting competition for children in the year 2011.
He has also received a Diploma Certificate from Finland in an International Painting Show. Yes, we can indeed add many more to the list of accomplishments of this boy too. But perhaps the aforementioned accomplishments and the paintings we have are enough to show what 'class' they belong to.
Like many enthusiastic youngsters, they seem to want a bite out of every sweet pie. They have enrolled their beautiful illustrations for the Google-Doodle contest. They have a page-long explanation for the doodle, each one of them has made. All they are asking for is support, in order to add feathers to a crown embellished with awards and honors.
Their teacher Preetham Fernandes is a contemporary artist with skills one only dreams to have. He has excelled in several styles of painting and he is slowly transferring his knowledge and experience to these young masters who imbibe his advice up like hot milk chocolate. He is proud of whatever they have achieved and knows that these are small signs of great things to come.
They need our support. We know that only one can win. We hope the best wins.
